WHITTIER, CA — An early-morning natural gas leak forced the evacuation of approximately 75 people from over 30 homes Thursday in an unincorporated area of Whittier. The leak was reported at around 1:30 a.m. and residents in the 7500 block of Vicki Drive and Coolhurst Drive were evacuated to nearby Phelan Language Academy at 7150 Cully Ave., KABC 7 reported. Representatives from Southern California Gas are at the scene and are working with the Los Angeles County Fire Department to determine the cause of the leak.
